About

The Blues Asia Network was established in July 2010 to encourage interaction among blues fans, musicians, venue owners, concert promoters and world travellers who share an interest in blues music throughout the Asia-Pacific region.  There are several aspects of our network:

BLOG: http://www.bluesasianetwork.com

Well, you are already here.  This blog is the focal point for longer commentary about the state of the blues in the region.  We will offer concert and gig reviews, descriptions of major blues venues, artist profiles and interviews and opinion about the state of the blues in the region.  Recent blog posts are listed to the website and are announced on Facebook and Twitter.  The blog is also available via RSS feed and email delivery.

An important feature for our readers is the GIG LIST, which we regularly update.  If you are a band leader or venue owner, please send us information about your band, venue and schedule, either via email or through the ACTIVITY stream under the COMMUNITY tab.

We are searching for “correspondents” for the blog.  If you are interested in posting articles on a regular basis, please contact us.  This is a great way to gain additional notice by blues lovers world-wide.

FACEBOOK:  Blues Asia Network Fan Page

More than simply a duplication of the website and blog, the Facebook page will capture lots of information that never makes it to the website or blog.  This is the best place to follow our discoveries as we make them.  Also your comments and feedback are welcome.  Facebook will become the hub of our community interaction.

YOUTUBE CHANNEL: www.youtube.com/user/bluesasianetwork

This channel will seek out a representative video of the major blues bands around Asia.  It will develop into an online catalog of bands throughout Asia.  Also posted here will be video interviews that Blues Asia Network conducts with blues artists and bar owners throughout Asia.   We will also collect samples of tutorial channels and other videos of interest to blues musicians and fans.

TWITTER: www.twitter.com/bluesasia

Follow us so that we can follow YOU.  We turn to Twitter to uncover what’s going on in the Asian blues scene.  What we learn here might make it into our Breaking News section on the website, or prompt a posting at the blog.

The Blues Asia Network is maintained by Thomas “Tomcat” Colvin, a bluesman and resident of Manila since 1986.  He is best known for his work with LAMPANO ALLEY [lots of stuff on YouTube] and his project band TOMCAT & THE DAWGS.  He is currently gigging around Manila with the acoustic blues trio BLUES TRAIN.
